How to Find the Right Taps for Your Bathroom
When it comes to bathrooms, taps are a must have. They are very functional but that’s not all, they also add character to the bathroom. There are literally thousands of different bathrooms tap designs available on the market and this can make it hard to choose the right one. You may end up choosing one just for the sake of it and end up with an unsuitable choice. To make sure you do not fall into this pitfall, at Renovation D have put together a checklist that you can use to make sure that you get the perfect bathroom taps.
1 Measure the Water Pressure
If you want to be sure that you will get a decent flow of water from your taps, you need to choose taps that correspond to the water pressure in your home. Gravity fed systems tend to have lower water pressure whereas combination boiler systems have medium to high pressure.
To keep it simple, remember that single lever mixers and wall mounted taps require high water pressure for efficient function and two handled taps and pillar taps can work with low pressure.
2 Check the Tap Holes
The second most important thing you need to check for is the number of tap holes that your bath, basin or bidet have so that you get a tap that matches. Modern basins tend to have one tap hole that can only accommodate a mono mixer tap. Traditional style basins have two holes, one for the hot water and another for the cold water.
If you have three tap holes it means you can have two handles, one for the hot water and another for the cold water, along with a separate waterspout. With bathtubs and bidets, you can drill the number of tap holes that you will need.
3 Choose the Style
It’s important to choose the right style of bathroom taps as it will have a big impact on the look of your bathroom. With the style you can either go traditional or contemporary. If chosen well, bathroom taps can even be bathroom design focal points. If you want to update your bathroom, why not replace the old taps with a new and swanky set. Make sure they match because mismatched taps can be off-putting.
4 Choose the Material and Finish
High quality taps can stand the test of time. Making an investment into getting the right material for your bathroom taps is important. You can get taps made of brass, copper or stainless steel, to name a few materials. For the finish, you can get chrome, matte black, brushed nickel, rose gold, gun metal, brushed gold and many other beautiful finishes that will make your bathroom pop with style.
